Europe's largest open-cast basalt mine has already served twice as a unique film backdrop.

• In 1968 parts of the film "Death in the Red Jaguar" were shot here. It was the seventh film of the Jerry Cotten series of the 1960s.
• In 2013 the movie "V8 - You want to be the best" was released. The children's film is a film adaptation of a book by Joachim Masannek.
