Discover the places and stories of Central Hesse's industrial culture! The program has been set, you're ready to go!

Catch a glimpse of the past, present and future - regional museums, associations, geoparks, initiatives and individuals, districts, municipalities and (industrial) companies invite you to the Days of Industrial Culture 2021 with the most diverse program offerings.

Walk in the footsteps of the fiery past at the Vulkaneum geoinfo center in Schotten. The hands-on museum offers a journey through the history of the earth - what did the Vogelsberg region once look like? How can you tell that we are in the largest continuous volcanic area in Central Europe? Vogelsberg basalt was found during the construction of the subway in Frankfurt! How did it get there? And do you dare to lie under a 400kg trachyte? Afterwards we head out - a walk through the historic old town, past a former lava flow up to the Warte geotope with a wonderful view towards the local mountain.

More information about the event in the Vulkaneum on July the 1st.

On the subject of iron ore, the western Vogelsberg awaits with the history of regional mining and the social conditions of the miners. A hike of about 14km with members of the Ore Trail Project Group shows former mining sites and places of iron ore processing. Information boards with historical photographs and short descriptions complement the exciting journey through the past.

Further information about the guided hike at the brown iron stone pit near Gruenberg-Weickartshain.

The site of the former air munitions facility (MUNA) near Hartmannshain is explored on a walking tour. On 8.5km interested visitors get to know the MUNA site and its history as well as structural infrastructure. After the 2nd World War, the site was put to civilian use and small to medium-sized industrial companies settled on the premises. After the end of the Cold War, commercial use was added. A packaging company maintained its headquarters here until 2020. The MUNA Museum in Grebenhain-Bermuthshain also awaits the participants.

Further information about the guided tour through the support association MUNA-Museum Grebenhain e.V.
