What is the difference between the European wildcat and the well-known domestic cat?

Where can you find the "originals" of Europe?

What conservation measures are available for the endangered species?

How can we ourselves become active and support the secret inhabitants of our forests?

Answers and many more facts and information are provided by the free BUND travelling exhibition "Rueckkehr auf leisen Pfoten - die europaeische Wildkatze in Hessen" (translated: "Return on silent paws - the European wildcat in Hesse").
From July the 1st to August the 31st interested visitors can get to know the way of life and endangerment of the "little tigers of Germany" by means of posters, photos and information brochures in the foyer of the Vulkanum.

At the same time the exhibition advertises the action "Wilde Kaetzchen im Wald lassen" (translated: "Leave wild kittens in the forest"). Walkers find alleged cats, take them home to discover that they are not the usual domestic cat.

Further information can be found on the BUND website (Bund fuer Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland).
