Our network partner, the large-scale nature conservation project Vogelsberg (German: Naturschutzgrossprojekt (NSGP)), invites all (hobby) photographers to send in their favourite pictures of the volcanic region.

Every month, nature photographs on a new topic can be submitted:

  • July: Flower visiting insects
  • August: Grazing animals "at work
  • September: Agriculture in the Vogelsberg
  • October: Long-distance views along the Mountain Meadow Trail
  • November: Ponds and feathered visitors
  • December: Deadwood habitat
  • January: Charming winter landscapes
  • February: Bubbling springs and streams
  • March: The forest comes back to life
  • April: Flowering hedgerows
  • May: At the Breungeshain high moor
  • June: Colourful mountain meadows

With this campaign, the large-scale nature conservation project wants to draw attention to its diverse and very important work. The aim is to preserve the valuable cultural landscape of the Vogelsberg and make it accessible. Essential themes here are biodiversity and the experience of nature.

The artist can easily upload the respective photos on the NSGP website. Every month the project chooses a winner, who is announced at the beginning of the following month. The most impressive photographs make it into a calendar for the year 2022. The photo competition runs until June next year, and the finished calendar is expected to be available at key points from the end of November 2021.

Further information can be found on the NSGP website.
